Financial Commitment

Before you see a healthcare provider or undergo treatment, it may be helpful to think about creating a financial plan. This will help you anticipate costs and ways to pay for them. If you decide to create a financial plan, here are some things you might consider:

Check out your insurance coverage before seeing a healthcare provider.

Find out if you're covered under your insurance policy before you see a healthcare provider for an evaluation. Your coverage may determine what tests and testing sequences are covered, and what types of referrals you may need before you see a healthcare provider.

You can also call Fertility LifeLines™ at 1-866-LETS-TRY (1-866-538-7879). A Fertility LifeLines™ benefits specialist can help you verify your benefits. All calls are free and confidential.

Think about a budget.

Once you know what's covered by insurance and what's not, you may want to think about creating a budget. For some patients this may mean drawing up a line–by-line budget; for others it may simply mean setting personal financial limits.

Explore financing options.

If tests or treatments aren't covered by insurance, you may be able to finance your expenses in a variety of ways — from standard bank loans to alternate payment plans. Your fertility center may also recommend ideas for paying for or financing treatments. Find out if you qualify for these options and if they're right for you.
