85-90% of couples that have difficulty conceiving are treated with conventional therapies such as oral medication and surgery.*

Surgical Procedures

Sometimes, anatomical problems in either the man or woman are the suspected causes of conception difficulties. If your healthcare provider suspects this to be the case, she or he may recommend surgery as an initial treatment. For instance, if endometriosis is diagnosed, your healthcare provider may recommend treatment using laparoscopic surgery, in the hopes that removing the endometriosis will improve the chances of conception.

In some cases, the healthcare provider may use other medications in conjunction with surgery to improve the changes of conception. Or the healthcare provider may choose to pursue other treatments first, reserving surgery as an option if those treatments aren't successful. Every patient is different, and your healthcare provider's plan of care will be based on your specific diagnosis and history.
